UNESCO Youth Global Forum – Apply now to be the representative of Egypt in Paris.

Dear All,

We are pleased to announce that the 7th UNESCO Youth Forum will be held at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris from 17 to 20 October, 2011. The Forum gives youth delegates, between the ages of 18-24 a space to discuss, debate and exchange ideas on global challenges impacting young people. Detailed information will be available on this website soon. The deadline for nominations and applications for youth delegates is 28^th August, 2011. I am hoping you can circulate amongst your networks so we can have a good representation from Egypt.

The overall theme for the 7th Youth Forum is “How youth drive change”.  The youth participants will discuss key issues relating to their engagement in their communities, focusing on three sub-themes:

–       “Citizens in action: youth in political and public life”: What are the benefits of social and political inclusion of youth? What are the mechanisms and processes to engage youth as decision-makers and key stakeholders in their communities? What is the role of the Internet in fostering democracy, inclusion and active participation of youth in public life? How are youth contributing to post-conflict and post-disaster reconstruction in their communities?

–       “Countering youth exclusion, vulnerability and violence”: What are the different facets of exclusion and how do they link with violence and vulnerability among youth?  What are the different types of violence and are there innovative ways to prevent violence affecting youth, both as victims and as perpetrators?

–        “Breaking through employment barriers”: What are the skills and the opportunities that should be made available to youth to support their participation in the economic life of their communities and their countries? What are the challenges in terms of access to employment opportunities and of gender-related barriers to employment? How can social entrepreneurship strengthen the employability of youth.
